HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team hosts the 2021 Gulf South Conference Championship game for the first time in program history on Sunday at Charger Park at 1 p.m. as the second seed against fourth-seeded Young Harris.

This will be the fifth meeting all-time in the GSC tournament final between UAH and Young Harris, as the Chargers took the most recent conference championship in the 2019 campaign on the YHC campus.

UAH holds an all-time series record of 4-8 against YHC dating back to the program's inaugural campaign in 2016, with the Chargers winning three of the past four meetings including this season on April 9 by a score of 16-7 at Charger Park.

The Chargers earned a berth to the GSC Championship game after a 13-8 win over third-seeded Montevallo on Wednesday, which gave the squad a 11-3 overall record this season to go along with a 3-1 mark in GSC play in 2021.

Hailey Gallant has led the Chargers offense overall this season with a GSC-leading 98 points on 50 goals and 48 assists, while
Cara Brown has scored a team-best 64 goals to go along with five assists for 69 points.

Fellow junior
Katie Gerber has been an all-around performer for the Chargers with 33 goals and 26 assists in addition to a team-best 88 draw controls.

Shaina Doser and
Tori Ryan have split time in goal for the Chargers this season with a combined 7.43 goals against average and .401 save percentage. Doser earned the win for UAH on Wednesday with a season-high 10 saves.

Young Harris enters the GSC Championship on Sunday with a 5-7 overall record and a 1-3 mark in the GSC season, after upending No. 1 seed Lee on Wednesday by a final score of 15-13.

The Mountain Lions offense is led by Taylor Greenberg (39g-3a) and Aubrie Valvo (37g-5a) with 42 points apiece, while Maddy Meyers has played the majority of time in goal with a 15.17 goals against average and .404 save percentage.
