UAH participated in the Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series in the second semester of the 2020-21 academic year, but Thursday's contest will mark the first in a fall championship season since closing out the 2019 season on Nov. 15.

In the GSC SCS, the Chargers went 1-1-3, finishing second in their group, and Rafa Moreno led UAH going forward as he had a pair of goals to go along with three assists. In his career, the Antequera, Spain, native has scored 37 goals -- including 25 at UAH since transferring here after spending his freshman campaign at Davis and Elkins -- and that total ranks first among active Division II players and 10th among players across all three NCAA divisions.

A two-time First Team All-GSC choice, Moreno was joined on this year's preseason all-conference list by fellow two-time all-league honoree Ethan Wilson who has been a stalwart on UAH's back line for four years.

Florida Southern and Eckerd both did not play at all last year due to the pandemic, and the Mocs have been picked to finish eighth in the Sunshine State Conference with the Tritons predicted to finish 11th. In 2019, FSC was 5-6-5, while Eckerd was 6-7-3.

The season opener will mark the 15th meeting between UAH and FSC with Thursday's guests holding a 10-3-1 edge in the all-time series, and the Chargers are 6-1-0 in the prior seven match-ups with the Tritons. Eckerd took the most recent showdown with a 3-0 win in St. Petersburg, Florida, in 2019.
