MOBILE, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team started Gulf South Conference play with an emphatic victory, defeating host Spring Hill by a 3-0 score on Sunday afternoon. The Chargers improve to 2-1-1 (1-0-0 GSC), while the Badgers fall to 0-6-0 (0-2-0 GSC).

The Chargers would get on the board early as
Laura Hasani's header would go off the post and in for a 16th-minute strike, and
Carmen Endicott's effort would be finished off by Helena Gonazalez in the 22nd to give the visiting side a quick 2-0 lead.

Endicott assisted on both tallies, and
Devyn Thompson picked up the second assist on the Gonzalez goal.

In the second half, the Chargers would waste no time in making it a commanding three-goal advantage as Gonzalez would score her second of the day in the 51st.

Hasani and Gonzalez are now tied with
Brynn Colvin for the team lead with two goals on the year, while Endicott logs her second and third assists of the season which is tied for second in the GSC.

The two teams would be pulled off the field in the 60th due to lightning in the area, and after a 30-minute delay, the contest was completed with UAH ultimately giving up just one shot on target with
Hailey Hicks making the lone save of the contest for the Chargers in the 78th.

A 5-1 advantage in shots for UAH in the first half helped propel the guests to a 12-6 margin for the game including a wide 7-1 edge in attempts that were on frame, and the guests would enjoy that same 7-1 cushion in corners earned in the contest.

The Chargers are now unbeatean in eight straight against Spring Hill dating back to the 2003 season, and the team has outscored SHC by an 8-0 margin in the last two meetings.

UAH stays on the coast for its next contest, traveling to No. 4 West Florida on Tuesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
