MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team would erase a late second-half deficit before ultimately falling 107-97 in double overtime at host Auburn Montgomery on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers fall to 11-8 (4-6 Gulf South Conference), while AUM improves to 7-11 (4-6 GSC).

Four different Chargers scored in double figures on the afternoon led by
Max Shulman who used six 3-pointers to score 23 while also grabbing six rebounds, four steals, and three assists.Â

Scoring 20 was
Chaney Johnson who added four boards, a steal, and a block, while
Luke Burnett had three triples and scored 16. The double-figure scorers were rounded out by
Auston Leslie who had 15 while handing out a career-best eight assists.

CJ Williamson led UAH on the glass with eight rebounds.

The contest was back-and-forth in the opening minutes, with seven lead changes before a two-minute 10-0 run that started with a Leslie triple and ended with another from Shulman made it 21-12 in favor of the Chargers at the 14:04 mark of the opening half, and UAH would not trail again the rest of the period, taking a 46-44 advantage into the locker room at the break.

The Warhawks would then hold UAH at arm's reach through much of the second half, leading by as many as six before a frantic finish to the period saw six more lead changes in the final 3:32 of regulation before Shulman hit three straight at the charity stripe with just over 15 seconds left to ultimately force overtime with the game tied at 76-76.

In the first overtime period, UAH would build up a six-point lead at 88-82 with 1:10 left, but a 7-1 AUM run would tie the contest up at 89-89 and force a second overtime period.Â

In that stanza, the hosts would score nine of the first 12 points en route to securing the 107-97 victory.

UAH finished the contest shooting 45.1 percent and made 16 triples including going 9-for-17 in the first half, while the Warhawks finished the contest shooting 54.5 percent while also outrebounding UAH by a 46-30 margin.

That rebounding edge gave AUM a key 15-8 difference in second-chance points.

UAH will now turn its attention to a Wednesday visit from rival Montevallo, with tip-off at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall slated for 7:30 p.m.
