PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team continues its postseason quest as the fifth seed in the 2022 Gulf South Conference Volleyball Championships with a second-round matchup with fourth-seeded Montevallo on Friday at 11 a.m. on the campus of top-seeded West Florida.

The Chargers advanced to the second round of the GSC tournament with a four-set win over eighth-seeded Shorter on Monday at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. UAH is now 16-15 overall, which includes a 9-7 record against GSC opponents in the regular season.

This is the UAH volleyball program's 21st appearance in the GSC tournament, and the squad has at least reached the quarterfinal round in nine of the last 10 fall seasons. The Chargers hold an all-time record of 24-23 in GSC tournament matchups.

The winner of the contest between UAH and Montevallo will move on to play at 11 a.m. in the semifinal round on Saturday against No. 1 seed West Florida.

UAH received one All-GSC selection for the 2022 campaign, as
Paris Morris garnered her first career all-conference award as a Second Team honoree. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Morris has been one of the Chargers overall leaders in the 2022 campaign with a team-best .279 hitting percentage on 174 kills to go along with 59 total blocks.

Montevallo enters the GSC tournament with an 18-13 overall record and a 10-6 mark in GSC play, which earned the Falcons a bye to the second round of the league tournament. UM's offense features two players with 300-plus kills including Allie Dishman (329) and Macy Martin (324), while the Falcons defense is guided by Casey Hendrixson's 521 digs.

The Chargers hold an all-time series record of 26-22 against the Falcons, as the two teams split their 2022 season series with UAH winning at home on Oct. 28 and falling on the road at UM on Sept. 24.
