MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The No. 15 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end after dropping a Saturday afternoon road contest 89-70 to Montevallo. UAH slips to 5-2 (1-1 GSC), while UM improves to 2-4 (1-2 GSC).

The Chargers offense was guided by
Chaney Johnson with a team-high 16 points to go along with three assists and seven rebounds.

Max Shulman and
CJ Williamson rated second on the offense with 12 points each.

Ten different UAH players would record points on the afternoon.

The first half was tightly contested between the Chargers and Falcons, as the sides were tied on five different occasions along with the Falcons leading 45% of the opening frame compared to 30.8% for UAH.Â

Montevallo finished the last 4:27 of the half on a 10-0 run to hold a 39-37 advantage at the break.

The Chargers opened the second half with a triple from
Max Shulman to spark a 7-2 run to take the lead at 44-41, but after the Falcons would regain the advantage 49 seconds later, they would not allow the lead to change hands again on their way to an 89-70 victory.

The Chargers are back in action on Monday at 7 p.m. against West Alabama in Livingston, Ala.
