Chargers Take on Weekend Conference Play at Home

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team hosts two Gulf South Conference matchups at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall this weekend with visits from Lee on Friday at 5:30 p.m. before a meeting with Shorter on Sunday at 2 p.m.

General admission attendance is free this regular season, courtesy of Bill Penney Toyota. Single game tickets for reserved seating are also available.

The Chargers enter the weekend 1-5 overall and 1-2 in GSC play after narrowly falling to West Alabama on Monday by a score of 67-66. 

Haley Nichols led the team in the UWA contest with a season-high 22 points and five rebounds, and she now paces the team with both 12.0 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. Nichols additionally leads the Chargers with a 65.7 field goal percentage this season.

The Chargers boast the fifth-best field goal percentage so far in the GSC at 41.6 percent, led by Nichols at 65.7 percent and Olivia Howard at 51.9 percent.

Lee is entering the game with a record of 4-2 overall and 3-0 in GSC action after winning against Montevallo on Monday by a score of 72-55. The Flames offense is led by a pair of players averaging over 15 points per game including Haley Scubert (18.3) and Hampton (15.2).

Shorter enters the weekend with a 0-6 overall record and a 0-3 mark in GSC play, after most recently falling to Auburn Montgomery on Monday by a score of 80-72. Derrica McCall leads the Hawks with 12.8 points per game.

UAH holds an all-time series record of 6-14 against Lee and 15-13 against Shorter.

After this weekend's matchups, the Chargers take on Delta State in Cleveland, Mississippi, on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
