UAH Welcomes Asbury for Sunday Matchup at Spragins

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team steps out of conference play for a 2 p.m. matchup on Sunday against Asbury at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.

UAH improved to 10-3 overall and 6-2 in the Gulf South Conference with a 58-57 win at West Georgia on Thursday, with three different Chargers scoring 10 points or more to lead the way.
 
Sophomore Chaney Johnson continues to lead the Chargers in the 2022-23 campaign with a team-high 17.2 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game, as he rates in the top six of the league in both statistical categories.
 
The Chargers are atop the GSC with 9.9 three-pointers made per game, led by Luke Burnett who leads the conference with 3.0 three-pointers per game while rating eighth with a 39.0 percent mark from beyond the arc. As a team, UAH is shooting 34.5 percent on three-pointers.
 
Asbury comes into the nonconference tilt with a 10-2 overall record following a 84-75 win over Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday. The Eagles are led in scoring by Nick Fort at 23.3 points per game, while the AU defense holds opponents to 77.2 points per game.
 
This will be the first-ever matchup between UAH and Asbury.
 
After Sunday's contest, UAH looks ahead to a two-game homestand after the holiday break with visits from Christian Brothers on Dec. 31 and Union on Jan. 2.
