Box Score TAMPA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team stumbled on Sunday afternoon in a regional road contest against No. 11 Tampa, falling 22-5. The Chargers drop to 0-2 on the season, while the Trojans start the year at 1-0.

Hailey Gallant led the way for UAH on the afternoon, tallying three goals and adding two assists. She now has five goals and four assists through two games of the season and
Cara Brown also registered points for the Blue & White picking up two goals and an assist, pushing her 2022 total to six goals after the opening weekend.

Shaina Doser and
Darby Smith each picked up a team-high three ground balls and Doser also made 7 saves in goal for UAH.

The Chargers opened the game's scoring with Gallant finding Brown at the 11:02 mark of the first, but UT would answer with three straight while taking the lead after seven minutes of play. Brown would connect for her second tally of the day, again assisted by Gallant, before the Trojans would take a 5-2 lead into the first intermission. Gallant then constructed a second-quarter hat trick including two goals just 56 seconds apart to close the first half as Tampa would hold an 11-5 advantage at the halfway point.

The Trojans were able to limit UAH to two shots throughout the second half en route to securing a 22-5 victory over the Chargers.

UT controlled 13 draws opposed to the Blue & White's six and held a narrow edge in ground balls by a 12-11 margin.

The Chargers will now look ahead to Saturday, Feb. 26
th when the team travels east to take on Mount Olive in North Carolina. Mount Olive ranked 17
th in the ILWomen/IWLCA preseason poll earlier this year.
