UAH Drops Tuesday Matchup to No. 8 Trevecca Nazarene

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team dropped a nonconference matchup on Tuesday by a score of 11-7 to No. 8 Trevecca Nazarene at Charger Park. UAH dips to 3-5, while TNU improves to 3-1.
 
The Chargers offense was led by Garrett Bodine, who went 3-for-5 out of the leadoff spot with two runs scored, one RBI and three doubles.
 
Landon Ezzell also had a multi-hit game with a 2-for-5 day at the plate, which included two doubles, one RBI and one run scored.
 
Brennan Vasquez additionally hit the lone homer by the Chargers with a two-run homer as part of a three-run first inning for UAH.
 
Payton Lemons started on the mound for the Chargers, and he turned in 2.0 innings with two runs allowed and two strikeouts for a no-decision. Jake Christa took the loss in relief to drop to 0-1 after allowing three runs in 1.0 inning of work.
 
Cory Hagood, Wells Deloney and Justin Perrault each had a scoreless inning of relief to lead the bullpen.
 
UAH went in front early with three runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by Vasquez's two-run blast to right.
 
TNU cut the lead to 3-2 with two runs in the second, before overtaking UAH in the third with a three-run inning. After the Chargers scored once in the bottom half of the third, the Trojans rallied for three once more in the fourth to extend their lead to 8-4.
 
Each side would add three more runs in the contest to bring the game to its final score of 11-7 in favor of Trevecca Nazarene.
 
UAH looks ahead to the start of Gulf South Conference play this weekend at Valdosta State on Saturday and Sunday.
