Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

UAH Beats Mississippi College 68-57 on Thursday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team picked up yet another home victory, defeating visiting Mississippi College by a 68-57 score at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 18-10 (11-8 Gulf South Conference), while MC falls to 7-19 (5-14 GSC).

UAH is now 13-1 at The Stable this season.

The Chargers were led by a pair of 20-point scorers on the night as CJ Williamson went 8-for-11 from the floor and scored 21 to go along with four rebounds, two assists, and two steals; while Max Shulman knocked down four triples and scored 20 in addition to picking up four boards, three assists, and a team-high four steals.

Chaney Johnson scored 13 to round out UAH's double-figure contingent, and Dalton Dodd led the Chargers on the glass with six rebounds.

Jack Kostel handed out a team-high six assists.

The visitors held an early 11-7 lead at the 13:30 mark of the opening half, and the lead would exchange hands eight different times before a Shulman 3-pointer towards the end of the first period would give UAH a 35-32 lead at the break.

The Chargers then controlled play through the opening five minutes of the second half with a Williamson layup making it 47-37 to give the hosts their first lead in double digits of the night, and the lead would grow to as many as 17 after an old-fashioned 3-point play from Dodd created a 63-46 advantage for UAH with 8:46 left in the game.

Mississippi College briefly pulled back to within nine with 2:15 remaining, but that would be the last time the Choctaws would score, allowing Williamson's last bucket of the night to create the 68-57 final.

For the contest, UAH shot 43.6 percent compared to a 48.8 percent shooting mark for MC, but the Chargers forced the guests to create 22 turnovers while giving it away only seven times themselves to build up a 20-5 edge in points off miscues.

MC also held a 32-24 edge on the glass, though UAH would capitalize on its eight offensive rebounds to have a 10-6 edge in second-chance points.

UAH will now turn its attention to the regular season finale when the Chargers welcome Delta State to Huntsville on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. at Spragins Hall.
