MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team was edged in double overtime by No. 17 Mount Olive by a score of 14-13 on Saturday afternoon at the McDonald Complex. UAH slips to 1-3, while UMO rises to 2-1.

Katie Gerber had a stellar overall game against Mount Olive, as she posted a team-high five points on three goals and two assists to go along with five ground balls and four draw controls.

Isadora Springer netted a team-high four tallies, while
Cara Brown and
Katie Williams also notched multi-goal performances with three goals and two goals, respectively.

Brown also grabbed four draw controls to tie with Gerber for the team lead.

Sara Pagotto helped lead the Chargers defense with a team-high three caused turnovers, with
Darby Smith also guiding the defensive effort with a roster-best six ground balls to go along with one caused turnover.

Shaina Doser and
Tori Ryan split time in goal on Saturday as both netminders notched four saves in the contest. Ryan took the loss, as she played the final 47:28 with six goals allowed. She drops to 1-1 on the year.

Mount Olive started off the scoring on Saturday afternoon, but the Chargers rebounded with back-to-back tallies by Springer and Williams to take a 2-1 lead. UMO went on to rally for three goals to wrap up the first period with a 4-2 lead.

Gerber would score two of her three goals in the second period to lead the Chargers offense in the frame, as UAH outscored Mount Olive 5-4 in the quarter to cut the deficit to 8-7 at halftime.

The Trojans were able to extend their lead in the third to 11-9, as the Chargers were outpaced 3-2 in the stanza.Â

UAH forced overtime in the fourth quarter, thanks in part to two goals apiece by Springer and Brown which helped the Chargers tie the contest at 13-13 heading to overtime.

Both sides went scoreless in the first overtime period, as UMO's Zoe Dougherty scored the game-winner 2:32 into second overtime.Â

With Sunday's cancellation at Emmaunel, UAH looks ahead to a matchup at Lenoir-Rhyne on March 8.
