Chargers Drop Road Contest at No. 16 Embry-Riddle

Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team took on its fifth nationally ranked opponent of the season Wednesday night, going toe-to-toe with No. 16 Embry-Riddle before ultimately dropping the road contest 19-11. The Chargers slip to 3-5 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 8-0.
 
Cara Brown led the goal scoring efforts for UAH on the evening, tallying four goals, while Isadora Springer and Katie Gerber each scored a pair in the contest.
 
Shaina Doser picked up a team-high five ground balls and also made eight saves in goal for the Chargers.
 
The Eagles opened the game's scoring at the 10:50 mark of the initial quarter and would strike five times through the opening frame to hold a 5-1 advantage as Brown put the Chargers on the board with her 23rd goal of the season. Embry-Riddle scored another five compared to two from UAH in the following stanza to go into the halftime break with a 10-3 lead over the visitors.
 
Although the Chargers would outscore the hosts in the third frame, the Eagles would hold on to the lead throughout the fourth on their way to securing the 19-11 victory.
 
The hosts outshot UAH 42-27 and picked up 23 ground balls to edge out the Chargers 14 in the contest.
 
UAH will now turn the focus to Friday when the team continues the Sunshine State tour, traveling to Lakeland, Fla. to take on its sixth nationally ranked opponent of the season and third this week in No. 6 Florida Southern.
 
Friday's contest is set for a 6 p.m. CT start.
