MONTGOMERY, Ala. | No. 16 Auburn Montgomery took the series from the No. 24 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team on Sunday, sweeping the doubleheader by scores of. The Chargers are now 16-9 (6-6 Gulf South Conference), while the Warhawks are now 19-6 (9-3 GSC).

UAH will now turn its attention to non-conference opponent Arkansas Tech who is scheduled to visit Charger Park on Tuesday.

AUM 7, UAH 3
UAH collected six hits in the contest with two belonging to both
Kiara Akles and
Kaylee Vaught, both of whom had a double in the contest, and Akles drove in all three runs in the setback for UAH.

Vaught scored twice, while
Shelby Booker walked and tallied a run.

Layton Murphy took the loss in the circle for UAH, tossing 2.1 innings before giving way to
Grace O'Berry and
Maddie Tankersley. Tankersley allowed just one hit and nothing else in 1.2 innings of work.

UAH snagged the game's first lead when Akles singled to right in the first to plate Vaught, but the hosts crossed home four times in the third to go in front 4-1. Akles then hit a two-run double in the fifth to pull the Chargers back within one, but AUM scored three more times in the sixth to create the eventual 7-3 final.

The Warhawks racked up 10 hits to UAH's three in taking the series decider, and the hosts started early, plating a pair of runs in the first.

The score remained 2-0 until the fourth when
Alaina Hampton singled in
Sadie Thompson, and the Chargers would tie it on Booker's productive grounder that plated
Lawren Hayes in the fifth.Â

But AUM then scored eight times in its half of the inning to end the contest.

Vaught and Akles had the other hits in the contest for the Chargers.
