UAH Wraps Series at West Florida with 6-5 Victory

PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team wrapped up a three-game Gulf South Conference series at West Florida with a 6-5 victory on Sunday afternoon. UAH improves to 17-21 (9-11 GSC), while UWF slips to 19-14 (14-7 GSC).

Mitchell Rottier led the Chargers offense overall with a 3-for-4 performance with one run scored, one walk and a team-high two RBI. Garrett Bodine tied with Rottier for the team lead in hits with three on the way, as UAH's top two hitters in the lineup accounted for six of the team's 11 hits.

Connor Brooks made his 10th start on the mound this season on Sunday afternoon, and the right-hander worked 6.0 innings with four runs allowed and two strikeouts. He improves to 4-3 with the win.

Kody Keiser was credited with his first saves in 2022, finishing off the final 1.1 innings with zero runs allowed.

UAH opened up the game in the top of the first by sending eight batters to the plate in a three-run rally, which would be reduced to a one-run lead after two Argonaut runs in the bottom half of the innings.

Both sides scored one run apiece in the second inning to make it a 4-3 contest, before the Chargers scored one run in consecutive innings with Landon Ezzell's 10th home run in the season on a solo shot in the fifth followed by an RBI single by Rottier.

West Florida went on to add one run in the seventh and eighth innings as UAH held on for the 6-5 victory.

UAH is back in action at Charger Park next Friday and Saturday against West Georgia.
