GREENWOOD, S.C. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team continued conference play on the road on Saturday afternoon, taking on Lander on their way to securing a 19-12 victory. The Chargers improve to 5-6 (2-0 Gulf South Conference) on the season, while the Bearcats slip to 7-6 (1-2 GSC).

Katie Williams led all players on both sides on the scoresheet with a career-high six goals and she also added an assist for the Blue & White for seven points in the contest.
Hailey Gallant also recorded seven points in the affair for her own season-high.
Isadora Springer,
Cara Brown, and
Katie Gerber also recorded goals in the game to round out the goal scorers for the Chargers.

Shaina Doser registered eight saves in goal for UAH.

Although Lander would take the lead on three separate occasions throughout the opening frame, two goals apiece from Gallant and Williams would put UAH in the lead 4-3 at the first intermission. The Chargers tallied five more times in the second frame, including a goal from Gerber with just 13 seconds to play in the half, to hold a 9-6 advantage at the halftime break.

Four unanswered goals from the visitors midway through the final quarter would take their biggest lead of the night at 18-10 on their way to securing the 19-12 victory.

The visitors outshot LU 40-28 on the afternoon while also narrowly winning the majority of ground balls by a 15-13 margin.

UAH will now look ahead to Thursday, Apr. 7 when the team returns to Huntsville to Charger Park to take on the Shorter Hawks. The Chargers will face off with Shorter for the tenth time in history with the Chargers having won the last meeting by a 21-3 score.
