ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Setting up a pivotal regular season finale next weekend, The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team went on the road and remained perfect in conference play with a 14-6 win at Flagler on Saturday. The Chargers improve to 8-6 (4-0 Peach Belt Conference), while the Saints fall to 2-12 (2-2 PBC).

Next weekend's game between UAH and Lander will be for the regular season title and the right to host the semifinals and finals of the PBC tournament.
Saturday's contest is slated for a 1 p.m. start, and the Chargers will honor its seniors prior to the game.

The victory at Flagler also gives UAH its eighth win of the season, matching the 2018 team's program record for wins in a season.

Zak Welsh once again was big for the Chargers as the two-time USILA D2 Team of the Week member made 17 saves while allowing just the six goals.Â

The Columbus, Ohio, native has been especially strong for the Chargers during conference play, recording a stellar .722 save percentage and a 5.86 goals against average in the four contests, and both of those numbers lead the PBC in conference-only stats among those who have recorded at least 100 minutes.

Offensively,
Jax Looby led the Chargers with three goals, and his point total was matched by
Kyle Light who scored twice and added an assist to also total three points.

Five different UAH players totaled a pair of points in the game with each off
Conor Young,
Jake LeVette, and
Jake Schramm scoring twice, while both
Josh Campbell and
Reid Vender had a goal and an assist.

Will Ford added a goal to round out UAH's scorers.

Hunter Coleman had a strong 15-for-20 day in faceoffs, and he also led the team with six ground balls.
Alex Dorenkott caused a team-best two turnovers.

The Chargers never trailed in the contest, scoring six times in the final 8:10 off the first quarter to grab a 6-0 lead, and though the hosts would outscore UAH 3-2 in the second, the Blue and White carried an 8-3 lead into the halftime break.

LeVette opened the scoring in the third quarter, and the teams traded goals until after the Saints made it 11-6 in the fourth quarter, after which UAH scored three unanswered the seal the contest.

The Chargers enjoyed a wide 52-38 advantage in shots including a 34-23 edge in shots on goal, and UAH was 27-for-30 in clear attempts compared to a 26-for-27 showing from Flagler. UAH also led with 35 ground balls to 30 for the Saints.
