4/30/2022 1:42:00 PM

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville is set to take on the three seed, Flagler, on Sunday in the finals of the Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship, with the game's start time set for 1 p.m. at Charger Park.

UAH enters the game at 10-6, while FC is 11-7.

The Chargers are making their sixth consecutive appearance in the finals and will be seeking their third title after winning the tournament in 2019 and 2021.

The team advanced to Sunday with a dominant 19-9 victory in Friday's semifinals against Lander.

In that contest, Cara Brown etched her name in the GSC tournament record books after logging the second-best single game goal scoring performance with six goals against the Bearcats.

Brown has scored six goals or more on five different occasions this season and she has 191 goals for her career. She leads UAH with 75 points while Hailey Gallant's 51 points are second-best on the roster and Gallant has a team-best 20 assists.

Flagler secured its spot in the finals with a 15-9 win on Friday, and the team was led by Kaitlyn Bush who had five goals and Lauren Ribadeneira who made 22 saves.

FC is led on the year by Kate Piscopo who has 39 points with 27 goals and 12 assists while Ribadeneira holds the top save percentage in the league performing at a 46.5 percent clip.

This will represent the first time that UAH and FC have met in the conference tournament.

When the two sides met for their regular season encounter, the Chargers were 21-12 winners. Brown scored eight in the contest to pace UAH.

The winner of Sunday's contest will take home the hardware and be named the champions of the GSC Women's Lacrosse Championship.
