UAH Concludes Season as PBC Tournament Runner-Up

HUNTSVILLE | The best season in program history came to a close for The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team on Sunday as the Chargers fell 19-5 to visiting Montevallo in the championship game of the 2022 Peach Belt Conference tournament. UAH ends the year at 10-7, while the Falcons conclude the season at 11-7.

Following the game, Zak Welsh, Jake Schramm, and Reid Vender were all named to the all-tournament team.

UAH finishes the year with the most wins and program history, and after going 5-0 in PBC play, the team also secured the program's first-ever regular season conference championship.

Vender scored the game's first goal just 1:45 into the contest, but the Falcons would outscore UAH 3-1 the rest of the quarter to go up 4-2 heading into the second. In that period, Montevallo scored five of the six goals and established a 7-2 halftime lead.

A quick strike from Brayden O'Neill got the third quarter started on the right track for UAH, but ultimately the guests would outscore the hosts 5-3 in the period to build up what prove to be an insurmountable 13-6 advantage even though UAH would pick up three goals compared to two for Montevallo in the fourth.

Schramm finished the contest as UAH's leader in points with his three assists, while each of Vender, Brody Phillips, and Ryan Craig had a pair of points with Phillips and Craig both scoring once and adding an assist while Vander scored twice. Other goal scorers included Conor Young, Josh Campbell, Jake LeVette, and Eric Rausch, while both Kyle Light and Jacob Thomas picked up an assist.

Silas Herman picked up a team-high nine ground balls, and Welsh made 13 stops in goal.
