HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team is set for its home-opening matchup against North Georgia on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Charger Park.

The Chargers enter their first game of 2022 at Charger Park with a record of 0-1-0, after opening up the campaign on Thursday night with a loss at Trevecca Nazarene by a 2-0 final score.

UAH is coming off a 7-7-2 overall record and a 5-6-1 mark in Gulf South Conference play last season, as a total of 17 players return from the 2021 squad.

The Blue & White's leading offensive returner is
Sander Van Der Sluijs who posted eight points on three goals and two assists to rank second on the team overall in 2021.

North Georgia also started its 2022 campaign with a setback on Thursday night, as the Nighthawks fell to Lee at home by a 3-0 score. Last season, UNG sported a 6-11-1 overall record and a 3-8-1 mark in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Nighthawks leading offensive returner is Harrison Wright with eight points on three goals and two assists in 2021, as he rated fourth on the team in points.

UAH is 5-5-0 all-time against North Georgia, with the last matchup occurring last season on Sept. 10 in Dahlonega, Georgia, with the Nighthawks winning 3-2.

Following Sunday's contest, UAH looks ahead to a trip to the Sunshine State next weekend with matchups at Florida Southern on Friday and Eckerd on Sunday.
