HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team fell to West Alabama by a final score of 72-57 in a Military Appreciation Day showdown at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall in Gulf South Conference action. UAH slides to 15-6 (10-5 GSC), while UWA rises to 15-4 (11-4 GSC).

CJ Williamson guided the UAH offense on Saturday with a team-high 16 points and six rebounds as he shot 6-for-12 from the floor. He has now recorded 10 or more points in a game on eight occasions in 2022-23.

Williamson was joined in double-digit scoring by
Chaney Johnson and
Luke Burnett at 11 points and 10 points, respectively. Johnson also tied with Williamson for the team lead on the boards with six rebounds as well.

Burnett additionally generated a team-high three assists and three steals against West Alabama.

The Chargers excelled from the charity stripe, going 16-for-17 on free throws for the contest.

This was UAH's first loss at home this campaign and the first time since Jan. 15, 2022 the Chargers have lost inside Spragins Hall.

UAH looks ahead to two road GSC contests next week with trips to Shorter on Thursday and Lee on Saturday.
