HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team snapped its skid in Saturday's Military Appreciation Day game with a 71-60 victory over visiting West Alabama at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 4-15 (4-11), while UWA slides to 9-10 (6-9 GSC).
 
A total of four Chargers posted double-digit scoring in the Saturday victory, led by junior 
Alaina Taylor's team-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor that included a stellar 5-for-8 on three-pointers. Taylor has now posted 10 or more points in three of the past four games.
 
The Chargers shot well from beyond the arc overall against the Tigers, with UAH going 10-for-21 on three-pointers. UAH's 10 three-pointers made are the most this season by squad.
 
Hailey Nichols rated second on the roster with 16 points while pulling down a team-high four rebounds and dishing out a roster-best four assists in a strong all-around performance. She also added three steals on the defensive end.
 
Bellah Machen and 
Andie Flatgard rounded out UAH players with 10 points or more at 14 points and 11 points, respectively. Flatgard additionally added five rebounds and two assists without a turnover across a team-high 39 minutes on the floor.
 
The Chargers finished with just nine turnovers in the win over UWA, while forcing the Tigers to 15 turnovers. Also, UAH held West Alabama to 42.4 percent from the field (25-59), while shooting 45.6 percent on field goals (26-57) itself.
 
UAH looks ahead to a pair of road matchups next weekend at Shorter on Thursday and Lee on Saturday.
