Men's Soccer Welcomes Delta State and Mississippi College for Weekend Matches

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's soccer team jumps back into action at Charger Park this weekend with Gulf South Conference matchups with Delta State on Friday at 7:30 p.m., followed by Mississippi College on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
 
The Chargers start out the week's schedule with a 4-2-5 overall record that includes a 2-0-4 mark in GSC play, after most recently tying 2-2 at Union on Sunday. UAH is one of four unbeaten teams in the GSC schedule thus far, as the Blue & White currently sit in fifth with 10 points.
 
Head coach John Carrier's squad has produced eight different goal scorers in the 2023 campaign, led by Rafa Vega with three markers in his sophomore season. Four more Chargers have two goals this year, including Justin Alcantara, Marcus Astreos, Jose Bannwart and Kieran Rowe.
 
Rowe highlighted the tie at Union on Sunday, scoring both goals for the Chargers.
 
Ethan Haworth has made all 11 starts in goal this season for the Chargers, as he's racked up a 1.09 goals against average with 25 saves in his senior season. His 25 saves are the fifth most in the GSC in 2023.
 
Delta State comes into Friday's contest with a 2-6-2 overall record and a 0-3-2 record in GSC play after falling to Cumberland 5-0 this past Sunday. Arturo Riestra paces the Statesmen offense with four goals and three assists, while Daniel Santema and Mason Baglio have combined for a 2.10 goals against average and 29 saves in goal.
 
Mississippi College begins the weekend schedule at an 8-1-1 overall record and a 4-0-1 record in GSC play, following a 6-0 win over Delta State on Sept. 29. Max Buesch guides the Choctaws offensively with seven goals and two assists, while Cole Turner has been MC's primary goaltender with six goals allowed and 24 saves over six games.
 
UAH holds all-time series records of 19-2-1 against Delta State and 4-3-2 against Mississippi College.
 
After this weekend's matches, UAH hosts its final regular season home game next Friday at 7:30 p.m. against West Alabama.
