Men's Soccer Handed First Conference Loss of Season on Sunday Afternoon

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team suffered its first conference loss of the season in a 5-1 setback to Mississippi College on a wet, windy Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. UAH moves to 5-3-5 (3-1-4 GSC) while the Choctaws improve to 9-1-2 (5-0-2 GSC).

The game's first goal came just 34 seconds into the contest, as Max Beusch scored off a rebound in the box for MC, but the Chargers were quick to answer with Wesley Atoyebi getting his first career collegiate goal to make it 1-1 in the fourth minute of action. The visitors scored twice more in the first half to hold a 3-1 advantage at the halftime break.

The contest remained 3-1 in favor of the Choctaws all the way until the 83rd minute where MC would go on to add a fourth goal which was later followed by the third tally for Beusch to create the 5-1 final score.

Each side fired off 10 total shots with MC registering seven on target compared to the Chargers five.

UAH returns to Charger Park next weekend to host its final home contest of the regular season, welcoming West Alabama for a 7:30pm kickoff on Friday for Senior Day.
