Volleyball Wins Five Set Thriller Over Mississippi College

CLINTON, Miss. | The UAH volleyball team won a five-set battle on Wednesday evening as they downed Gulf South Conference foe Mississippi College on the road 3-2 (28-26, 21-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-12).

The Chargers improved to 13-8 (9-2 GSC) with the victory, while the Choctaws are now 9-12 (7-4 GSC).

UAH's attack was led by Autumn Mayes, who totaled 25 kills for the match and surpassed her career high for the category while posting a .457 attack percentage in the process.

Mayes's 25 kills also marks the highest individual total this season and UAH's highest kill total since Kendall Scharbert's 26 kills against Mississippi College on November 11, 2021.

The Chargers were led by Savannah Rutledge in assists as the senior dished out 47 and provided a pair of kills.

Defensively, Kiara Hill compiled four solo blocks and a block assist to lead UAH, while Mary Grace Bundrant tallied two solo blocks and two block assists.

The first set saw UAH take the win in an extended 28-26 contest as they put up three blocks and 17 kills.

Mississippi College grabbed the following two sets, both by a score of 25-21.

The Chargers got the best of the Choctaws in the fourth set, swatting two more blocks and 12 kills in a 25-21 win to set up a deciding fifth set.

UAH took set five 15-12 on the back of 10 kills and a .444 attack percentage.

The Chargers continue GSC play on Saturday when they host West Alabama and put their 8-0 home record on the line.
