Women's Soccer 2023 Campaign Concludes with Setback at No. 16 West Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. | The UAH women's soccer team concluded the 2023 campaign with a narrow 1-0 loss at No. 16 West Florida on Sunday afternoon in Gulf South Conference play. UAH ends the year 8-6-3 (5-5-3 GSC), while UWF improves to 15-1-1 (12-1-0 GSC).
 
The contest was scoreless for the initial 84 minutes of play until a go-ahead goal by West Florida's Charline Favier lifted the hosts to their 1-0 win on Sunday.
 
CeCe Szopa was stellar in goal for the Chargers in the regular season finale with seven saves while navigating nine corner kicks by the Argos.
 
In her freshman season, Szopa finishes with a 5-5-3 record in goal with a total of 60 saves over 1125 minutes in goal. She recorded five or more saves on five occasions.
 
Haley Bedingfield generated UAH's lone shot on goal in the contest, as she had a good opportunity on a header off a corner kick late in the first half.
 
Emily Labus, Hadas Morin, Morgan Snyder, Sarah Trotter, and Mollie Valek each played the full 90 minutes in the regular season finale. Snyder ends the year with a team-high 1345 minutes played.
 
This was the 28th season for the UAH women's soccer program and the fifth with head coach James Ballamy.
