HUNTSVILLE | The UAH volleyball team begins their postseason on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in the semifinal of the 2023 Volleyball Gulf South Conference Championship in Pensacola, Florida as they represent the second seed in the tournament.

The Chargers wrapped up their regular season last weekend with a win over West Georgia in five sets and improved to 17-9 (13-3 GSC). 

UAH will face off against the winner of a quarterfinal match between No. 6 seed Mississippi College and No. 3 seed Auburn Montgomery.

The Chargers defeated both teams in five sets on the road in their previous matchups this season, staging a comeback from 2-0 against AUM and a 2-1 comeback against Mississippi College.

On the court, the Blue and White are led by seniors Savannah Rutledge and Autumn Mayes, who were both named All-GSC earlier this week, with Rutledge earning Setter of the Year. 

Mayes earned First Team honors after a season in which she ranked in the top 10 of the GSC in kills and digs. Rutledge's Setter of the Year win is the first in UAH history, as the Albertville, Alabama, native tallied a league-high 909 assists and 9.28 assists per set.

Rutledge also recorded 48 kills, 218 digs, 25 aces and 51 blocks for the season.

The Charger defense is highlighted by Mary Grace Bundrant and Kiara Hill as middle blockers who rank in the top 10 in blocks per set, while Tatiana Bonilla shores up the libero spot as the second-ranked Gulf South player in digs per set.

The final match for the Volleyball GSC Championship will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
