Volleyball Hosts Montevallo for Senior Night on Friday

11/2/2023 12:27:00 PM

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH volleyball team finishes up their regular season home schedule on Friday as they host Montevallo in a pivotal Gulf South Conference matchup for seeding in the conference tournament. The game will also mark Senior Night for the Chargers.

The Chargers have already clinched their spot in the GSC Championship, but are looking to maintain their hold of the second seed as they have posted a 15-8 (11-2 GSC) record and an undefeated record at home.

The Falcons visit Huntsville with an 11-15 record (9-4 GSC) and are currently in fourth place in the conference standings. Montevallo has also clinched a spot in the GSC Championship and have won three consecutive matches.

The previous matchup between the two teams saw UAH win a road matchup in a 3-0 sweep.

UAH leads the GSC in blocks per set this season, averaging 2.24 per set and ranks third in digs (15.18 per set). Mary Grace Bundrant leads the GSC in blocks per set this season and surpassed the 100 block mark in Tuesday's victory over Lee.

Kiara Hill holds the sixth-highest blocks per set total in the conference, swatting 0.88 blocks per set.

Autumn Mayes, last week's AVCA/GameChanger Division II Player of the Week, leads the Charger offense with 2.78 kills per set and has also corralled 3.32 digs per set for the year, a mark good for second on the team.

Montevallo enters the match having won their last five GSC matchups. The Falcons boast the second highest digs per set total in the GSC at 15.97 and rank sixth in the conference in blocks per set (1.6 blocks per set).

The Falcons are led offensively by Allie Dishman, who holds the fifth-highest points per set total in the GSC at 3.36.

Following Friday's match, the Chargers hit the road to wrap up the 2023 regular season next weekend as they take on Valdosta State and West Georgia.
