The Chargers enter their 10th season under head coach Andrea Lemmond, as the squad comes off a 2022-23 season in which UAH went 8-20 overall and 8-16 in Gulf South Conference play. Friday's game will be the Chargers first regular season action, after playing an exhibition at Alabama last Wednesday.

UAH returns a total of nine players from last season including five of the top six in minutes played by the Chargers. Haley Nichols led the Chargers last season with 12.6 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game, while Andie Flatgard and Madie Krieger both played over 30 minutes per game as freshmen.

Florida Southern is coming off a 15-14 overall record last season that included a 10-10 mark in Sunshine State Conference play, as the Moccasins are led by second-year head coach Megan Dzikas. Arielle Dabu leads all FSC returners with 10.6 points per game last season, with the Mocs averaging 67.6 points per game as a team.

Tampa enters the 2023-24 season as the No. 5 team nationally, as they opened play last weekend with two wins and a loss at the CCA Tipoff Tournament in Billings, Montana. The Spartans went 33-2 last season and 19-1 in SSC play, reaching the Elite Eight. UT's offense is led so far this season by Mya Giusto with 14.3 points per game.

After this weekend's contest, UAH is back at home for a nonconference matchup Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. against future GSC member Trevecca Nazarene.
