Women's Basketball Welcomes Two Magnolia State Foes in Weekend Slate

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women's basketball team is back at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall with a pair of Gulf South Conference weekend matchups with visits from Delta State on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Mississippi College on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Chargers come into the weekend with a 3-5 overall record and a 2-3 mark in GSC play this season, after most recently defeating Shorter on the road on Sunday by a score of 65-54.
 
Pulaski, Tennessee, native Jesse Jennings totaled 42 points over the two-game road trip last weekend that included a career-best 27 points at Lee last Friday. She has scored 10 or more points in seven consecutive games, as she rates fifth in the GSC with 15.1 points per game in 2023-24.
 
UAH is the top team from the free throw line in the GSC this campaign so far, shooting 78.4 percent from the charity stripe through eight games. Jennings leads the Chargers and the conference at 88.2 percent from the foul line, with seven total UAH players shooting 70.0 percent or higher on free throws.
 
UAH's 88.2 free throw percentage additionally rates 19th in NCAA Division II.
 
Delta State enters the Friday contest with a 4-6 overall record and a 2-4 mark in conference play, following a 55-53 loss at home on Sunday to Montevallo. The Statesmen average 61.9 points per game, led by Wakiryah Daniels at 13.7 points per contest.
 
Mississippi College starts out the weekend at 2-7 overall and 1-5 in GSC action, after most recently falling at home to Auburn Montgomery on Sunday by a score of 64-54. The Choctaws average 52.8 points per game, guided by Karly Ivy at 11.0 points per game.
 
UAH holds all-time series records of 13-24 against DSU and 15-7 against MC.
 
After this weekend's games, the Chargers are away from action until Saturday, Dec. 30 when the Blue & White welcomes West Georgia for a 2 p.m. tip-off at Spragins Hall.
