UAH Welcomes Delta State Thursday and Mississippi College Saturday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team returns home for two games at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall this week including matchups against Delta State on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Mississippi College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
UAH will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sport Day for Thursday's contest, which will feature a halftime ceremony honoring some of Huntsville's inspiring women leaders in sport.

General admission attendance is free this regular season, courtesy of Bill Penney Toyota. Single game tickets for reserved seating are also available. 

The Chargers enter the week with a 5-16 overall record and a 5-12 mark in Gulf South Conference play this season, following a 72-62 loss at Lee on Saturday.
 
Haley Nichols led the Chargers this past week with a team-high 14.5 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game to raise her season averages to 12.1 points and 7.8 rebounds.
 
She has accumulated six double-doubles with points and rebounds this season, as she rates fifth in the league with 7.8 rebounds per game and 12th with a scoring average of 12.1 points.
 
Junior Alaina Taylor has seen a jump in scoring over the past six games, as she's posted 12 or more points in five of the last six contests. She has additionally improved her efficiency in those contests with a 45.4 field goal percentage, which rates above her season's 38.9 percent from the field.
 
UAH holds an all-time series record of 12-24 against Delta State and 14-7 against Mississippi College.
 
Delta State starts out the week's slate with a 9-13 overall record that includes an 8-10 mark in GSC action, after most recently topping Auburn Montgomery at home by a score of 72-64. The Statesmen are led by Camryn Davis (12.8 PPG) and Alanna Smith (10.2 PPG) so far this season.
 
Mississippi College enters the week with a 5-16 overall record and a 4-14 record within the league, following a 64-58 loss to Montevallo this past Saturday. The Choctaws are guided by Kyiah Julian who leads the team with 11.9 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game.
 
After this week's contests at Spragins Hall, UAH looks ahead to the third game of the homestand on Wednesday against visiting West Georgia.
