FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. | The third-seeded University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team took down the No. 2 seed West Alabama Tigers in an emphatic 72-56 victory to advance to the South Regional Final on Tuesday. UAH moves to 27-7 while UWA finishes the year at 27-6.

Chaney Johnson was lights out with a 23-point performance to lead the Chargers offense as he went 9-for-10 from the floor and he also picked up four rebounds.Â

Max Shulman joined Johnson in double figures scoring with 11 of his own going 3-for-6 from beyond the arc.

The Chargers defense forced the Tigers into 17 turnovers as
Jack Kostel had six steals on the night and
Luke Burnett registered four takeaways in the matchup.

UAH advances to its seventh regional final appearance and will look to advance to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2012.Â

The Chargers will face the winner of the other semifinal matchup featuring the No. 1 seed Nova Southeastern and the No. 4 seed West Georgia on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT.
