UAH Meets Pair of Opponents at Charger Park This Weekend

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team is set to host a pair of opponents this weekend at Charger Park. The Chargers will play Missouri Western on Friday at 1 p.m. and will welcome in Gulf South Conference opponent Lander on Sunday at noon.

Admission for this week's games – and to all regular season events at Charger Park – is free again this season courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

The Chargers make their return to Huntsville after a trip to Florida, falling in a pair of games against Rollins by a score of 14-4 and a 19-12 loss to Florida Tech. 

Junior Isadora Springer leads UAH in scoring this season with 22 goals on 49 total shots and two game-winning goals. Senior Cameron Crews anchors the Charger defense with a team-high 13 caused turnovers.

The Chargers hold the third-highest shot percentage in the GSC at .454 and also rank third in ground balls with 196 on the season.

Missouri Western enters the match with a 5-3 record and are coming off of two wins over the weekend, winning 11-8 against Lee and 18-7 over Tusculum, and a 17-2 victory over Shorter on Wednesday. The Griffons leader in points is Karlin York with 33 for the year on 19 goals and 14 assists. 

Lander will head to Montevallo tomorrow with a 5-4 record before facing off with the Chargers on Sunday. The Bearcats rank as the third-highest goal scoring team in the GSC at 118 goals, while also causing the third most turnovers with 101. Lander's defense is led by Autumn Huskey who has 18 caused turnovers and 43 draw controls for the season.

UAH holds an all-time record of 1-0 against Missouri Western and are 3-0 when facing off against Lander. 

Following the weekend's matches, the Chargers will host Young Harris next Wednesday at Charger Park.
