UAH Garners Six All-GSC Honorees

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its 2023 women's lacrosse season awards on Thursday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team was represented by a total of six All-GSC honorees.
 
The Chargers First Team All-GSC honorees included Cameron Crews, Katie Gerber and Chloe Wood, while UAH was additionally represented on the Second Team by Sarah Cole, Riley Kirby and Isadora Springer.
 
Cameron Crews has been a leader on the UAH defense in her senior season with a team-high 24 caused turnovers over 17 games this season. She additionally rated third on the squad with 33 ground balls and turned the ball over just 12 times.
 
Gerber – a three-time All-GSC honoree – ranked second on the UAH offense with 48 points from 29 goals and 19 assists, as she also ranked in the top four on the team with 35 ground balls and 23 draw controls.
 
In her first season with the Chargers, Wood registered a team-high 52 points to ranks seventh in the GSC this season from 44 goals and eight assists. Wood's 44 goals are tied for fifth this season in the league as well, while her team-high 65 draw controls are also fifth in the GSC.
 
Cole earns her first career All-GSC honor in her first collegiate season, as she finished the regular season fourth on the UAH roster with 33 goals and four assists. She also rated second on the team with 51 draw controls in addition to 26 ground balls this season.
 
Kirby also helped fortify the UAH defense in the 2023 campaign as she ranked second to Crews on the team with 20 caused turnovers while also picking up 27 ground balls. UAH's defense also held teams to 11 goals or fewer on nine occasions in 2023.
 
Springer tied with Wood for the team lead and fifth in the GSC with 44 goals in her junior campaign, as she finished the regular season with 47 points to rate third on the UAH roster. Springer also added 30 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers over 17 games this season.
 
The Chargers look ahead to the start of the 2023 Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championships with a semifinal matchup on Friday at 2 p.m. CT as the second seed against third-seeded Lander on the campus of Flagler in St. Augustine, Florida.
