Volleyball Begins Season with Trip to Nashville for Four Match Weekend

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH volleyball team starts their 2023 campaign on Friday as they travel to Nashville to compete in the Ray Thrasher Classic at Trevecca Nazarene.

The two-day event kicks off with the Chargers taking on Carson Newman at 11 a.m. on Friday, followed by a matchup against Bemidji State at 3 p.m. Action resumes on Saturday with a 9 a.m. contest against UMSL with a weekend finale against Lynn at 5 p.m.

Head coach Jon Moseley enters his fourth season at the helm of the UAH volleyball program, holding a 44-28 record in his first three seasons. UAH returns to the court after a 16-16 record in 2022 and a 9-7 Gulf South Conference showing. 

The Chargers welcome back their top five players in sets played during their 2022 slate, including Tatiana Bonilla, Hailey Holshouser, Kiara Hill, Gracie McGee, and Caroline Moyer.

McGee led UAH in kills last season as she tallied 269 and a team-high 2.59 kills per set. Hill and Moyer follow McGee's leading point total of 299.5 from 2022 with 249 and 244.5 points, respectively.

Savannah Rutledge returns with a team-high in assists from last year with 535 and a 6.52 assists per set average.

Following the weekend slate, the Chargers will host the UAH Invitational presented by the Huntsville Sports Commission on September 8-9.
