MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The UAH volleyball team took to the road for a Thursday night Gulf South Conference matchup against Montevallo and came away with a 3-0 win (25-19, 25-20, 26-24). The Chargers improved to 6-3 (2-0 GSC), while the Falcons fell to 3-9 (1-1 GSC).

Savannah Rutledge led the charge for UAH in the match, compiling 26 assists, 9 digs, 4 kills, and 2 service aces in the win.

Zoe Smith notched a team high in kills with 11, while Caroline Moyer and Autumn Mayes followed with 8 apiece.

Tatiana Bonilla had 12 digs for the largest total on the team, while Mayes corralled 11 digs herself. Mary Grace Bundrant denied the Falcons 2.5 times with two solo blocks and one block assist.

The first set of the match saw UAH overcome an early 10-3 deficit to eventually overtake the Falcons and score 22 of the final 31 points of the set for a 25-19 win.

In the second set, the Chargers took over at 3-2 and never fell behind in the set again behind three aces and a number of Montevallo attacking errors.

Montevallo took a sizable lead once again in the final set of the match, as they claimed a 15-8 lead midway through the set. UAH took hold of the third set late, scoring 17 of the final 26 points with three service aces and a total of six blocks for the set.

The win marks the fifth consecutive for the Chargers and their second straight sweep of a GSC opponent this season.

UAH returns to the court on Tuesday as they wrap up their early-season road schedule to take on Lee.
