Volleyball Wins Second Match of Weekend, Defeating Valdosta State 3-1

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH volleyball team won their second match of the weekend in Gulf South Conference play with a 3-1 victory over Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon (25-19, 16-25, 25-20, 25-22). The Chargers improved to 8-4 (4-1 GSC), while the Blazers fell to 11-6 (3-2 GSC).

The Chargers remained undefeated at home with the victory and are winners of six of their last seven matches. 

Caroline Moyer tied a career high with 16 kills in the match to lead the Chargers while holding a .209 attack percentage. Freshman Mary Grace Bundrant posted a season-high kill total with 12 and her highest block total of the year at eight.

Savannah Rutledge put up 44 assists in the four-set win to lead the Chargers in the category, while Tatiana Bonilla and Autumn Mayes totaled 15 digs apiece. 

UAH took the first set with several long runs, and led 19-10 before the Blazers attempted a comeback before the Chargers shut the door with a 25-19 win.
 
The second set went the way of Valdosta State 25-16. 

In the third set, UAH fell behind 8-2 before staging a comeback and handling the Blazers with a 25-20 set victory.

The final set went to the Chargers as well with a 25-22 victory to close out the weekend.
 
UAH is back in action on Tuesday evening when they host Shorter at 6 p.m.
