HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's soccer team returns to Charger Park for two nonconference matches this weekend including contests against Florida Southern on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Eckerd on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Admission for Sunday's match – and to all regular season events at Charger Park – is free courtesy of Alabama Credit Union. UAH additionally hosts a neutral matchup Sunday at 1 p.m. between West Alabama and Florida Southern, which is also included in free admission.

The Chargers are off to their hottest start of the season since 1997, as UAH went 2-0-0 over the opening week's matches with 2-1 victories over Trevecca Nazarene and Georgia Southwestern.

UAH's four goals on the week came from four different players, with
Justin Alcantara,
Jose Bannwart, Rafa Vega and
Michael Weston each scoring a marker last week. Bannwart and Vega's tallies were each credited as game-winning goals.

Ethan Haworth played the full 180 minutes in goal for the Blue & White last week, as he posted eight saves while allowing only two goals. His eight saves on the weekend were the third most in the Gulf South Conference.

Florida Southern starts out the weekend with a 1-1-0 overall record after opening the campaign at home with a 3-2 loss against Mississippi College and a 1-0 win over Delta State. The Moccasins feature four players with two points so far this season, while Lasse Dettmer has played the full time in goal with three saves and three goals allowed.

Eckerd enters the week with a 1-1-0 overall record after topping Delta State 2-0 to open its season before falling the Mississippi College 3-0. Fredrik Haise and Tommy Shepherd have each supplied a goal for the Tritons, while Aidan Leak has been in goal for both matches with three goals allowed and nine saves.

UAH holds all-time series records of 3-11-2 against Florida Southern and 7-1-1 against Eckerd.

After this weekend's matches, the Chargers jump into GSC play for the 2023 season next Friday at Shorter with a 5 p.m. CT kickoff.
