HUNTSVILLE | The UAH volleyball started off its 2023 home campaign with a 3-2 win (23-25, 28-26, 25-22, 24-26, 21-19) over visiting Anderson on Friday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall as part of day one of the UAH Invitational presented by the Huntsville Sports Commission. UAH improves to 2-3, while AU slides to 6-1.

Kiara Hill was dominant for the Chargers on both ends on Friday night with 10 kills on a .240 hitting percentage to go along with a team-best 11 total blocks for a double-double. Hill's 11 blocks are the most by a Charger since 2003.

UAH's balanced attack featured four players with 10 kills or more against Anderson, led by freshman
Autumn Mayes with a roster-leading 17 kills to go along with 14 digs as one of four double-doubles registered by the Chargers.
Caroline Moyer (11 kills),
Zoe Smith (11 kills) and Hill (10 kills) also notched double-digit successful swats in the contest.

Savannah Rutledge guided the Chargers offense with 49 assists to go along with 16 digs and six total blocks in a strong all-around performance. Rutledge was joined in double-digit digs by
Tatiana Bonilla (18),
Hailey Holshouser (13), Mayes (14) and Moyer (11).

UAH held the edge over Anderson on the attack with a .162 hitting percentage compared to the Trojans' .157. The Chargers defense also boasted 18 total blocks, with AU accruing just five.
