Women's Basketball Falters in Thursday Home Matchup with VSU

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women's basketball team dropped Thursday night's Gulf South Conference matchup to No. 14 Valdosta State by a final score of 71-44 at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. UAH slides to 6-8 (5-6 GSC), while VSU improves to 13-2 (10-1 GSC).
 
Reigning GSC Player of the Week Haley Nichols guided the Chargers offense with a team-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor that included a 1-for-2 mark on three-pointers. Nichols also added three rebounds across 26 minutes on the floor.
 
Bellah Machen rated second offensively with nine points, thanks to a team-best three made three-pointers.
 
Sophomores Madie Krieger and Andie Flatgard tied for the team lead in rebounding with four boards apiece, with Krieger playing a roster-best 32 minutes on the night.
 
Haelim Adle helped aid the UAH offense with a roster-best three assists.
 
Overall for the contest, UAH shot 42.4 percent (14-33) from the field. The Chargers held the edge over the Blazers in rebounding in the contest by a margin of 24-23.
 
UAH continues its three-game homestand on Saturday at 2 p.m. with a visit from West Florida to Spragins Hall.
