HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women's soccer team opened the weekend with a 2-0 victory over Christian Brothers at Charger Park on Friday evening in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 5-4-1 (4-1-1 GSC), while CBU slides to 0-9-0 (0-4-0 GSC).

UAH has now won three straight games for the first time since 2021 as the Chargers rose to third in the GSC standings with 13 conference points so far in 2024.

The first half of the match was a tight affair with neither side breaking the deadlock, leaving the score at 0-0 at halftime.

The game's pace changed in the second half when
Jayla Gillespie, assisted by
Emily Labus, found the back of the net at 62:56, scoring the pivotal first goal.
Carmen Endicott added to the tally at 73:55, with
Morgan Snyder providing the assist, ensuring a comfortable lead for UAH.

Gillespie is the first UAH player to achieve 10 points on offense this year after scoring her fourth goal of the season to go along with her two assists in 2024.

Goalkeeper
CeCe Szopa was instrumental in maintaining the shutout for the Chargers with an impressive two saves. Her performance earned her additional recognition during the match. Szopa has now posted three shutouts in her sophomore campaign.

The defensive squad, backed by Szopa's goalkeeping, was guided by a 90-minute performance by
Emily Labus.

The Chargers generated 10 shots on goal against the Bucs, led by Endicott and Gillespie with three shots on target apiece.
