AMERICUS, Ga. | The UAH women's soccer team started its weekend road swing with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Valdosta State on Friday on the campus of Georgia Southwestern in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 3-4-1 (2-1-1 GSC), while VSU slides to 3-4-0 (0-2-0 GSC).

Sophomore
Jayla Gillespie provided the Chargers game-winning goal late in the 88th minute on Friday, propelling UAH to the 3-2 victory on her second goal of the season. Gillespie now leads the UAH offense in points with two goals and one assist so far in 2024.

Michella Tortelli scored in the 38th minute to give UAH a 1-0 lead at halftime, VSU battled back with consecutive goals in the 57th and 58th minute.

However, UAH served up two unanswered goals in the second half, beginning with
Addison Knauss's first career goal in the 59th minute before Gillespie's late game-winning goal.

Morgan Snyder picked up points in the contest, assisting on the goals by Tortelli and Knauss, respectively.

UAH amassed a season-high 11 shots on goal against Valdosta State, led by
Carmen Endicott with four shots on target.

CeCe Szopa held strong in goal for the Chargers in the win, as she posted three saves and navigated two corner kicks by the Blazers.
Emily Labus and
Hannah Szopa helped guide UAH's defensive effort with 90-minute performances on Friday.

The Chargers continue their road swing on Sunday with a GSC matchup at Auburn Montgomery. Kick-off slated for 1 p.m. at the Warhawks.
