Men's Basketball Home Opener Set for Tuesday Night

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team is primed to host their first home game of the season on Tuesday evening as they host Point at 6:30 PM at Kelly Court in Spragins Hall.

The Chargers return to action after a 1-1 weekend in which they narrowly lost 105-104 in overtime to No. 2 Nova Southeastern and then defeated Barry 81-63.

General admission to all UAH men's basketball regular season home games is free this season, courtesy of Bentley Automotive. Reserved seating is additionally available for purchase online through HomeTown Ticketing.

Fans in attendance to Tuesday's game will receive a UAH Kinesiology rally towel to help cheer on the Chargers in their home-opener.

Additionally, the UAH Department of Kinesiology is sponsoring halftime's toss-a-ball contest to raise funds that will enhance the student experience and allow for additional career growth opportunities. Fans may purchase toss-a-balls in the Spragins Hall front lobby prior to the game and during the first half. One lucky fan will additionally win a premiere Huntsville sports package as part of Tuesday's toss-a-ball sponsored by UAH Kinesiology.

Through two games, the Chargers rank second in points per game (92.5 PPG) and three pointers made per game (12.5 3PG) in the Gulf South Conference. Senior guards Tommy Murr and Luke Burnett are each averaging 25 or more points per game, with Murr at 26 PPG and Burnett at 25 PPG. Burnett is one three pointer from tying, and two threes from breaking the career three-pointers made record in UAH history.

Newcomer Blake Campbell has the third highest point total on the team in the early-going at 18.5 PPG while ranking second on the UAH roster in rebounds per game at 7.5 RPG. Daniel Saylor leads the Blue & White in rebounding at eight rebounds per game and has swatted away four shots so far this season.

Point visits UAH with an 0-4 record overall, most recently dropping a matchup with Paine College on Saturday 83-75. The Skyhawks are led offensively by Antwon Ferrell who is averaging 19 points per game in the early season. Ferrell is also tied for the second-most rebounds per game with four rebounds per game. 

Vince Graves leads the Skyhawks in blocks per game with 0.8 BPG and is tied with Ferrell with four rebounds per game. Brandon Kincaid leads Point in rebounds with 4.3 per game. 

Following Tuesday's game, the Chargers will take part in the McKendree DII Classic Presented by State Farm on November 22-23 against McKendree and UMSL.
