HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team is prepared to begin their 2024-25 campaign on Friday and Saturday as they travel to Montevallo, Ala. to take on No. 2 Nova Southeastern and Barry in an early season test under new head coach Mick Hedgepeth. 

The Chargers were named as the top team in the Preseason Gulf South Conference Coaches Poll last week and are coming off of a season in which they posted a 21-11 (17-7 GSC) record and were the runner-up in the GSC Tournament with an appearance in the NCAA South Regional.

UAH returns their top two scorers from last season in Tommy Murr (16.6 PPG) and Luke Burnett (15.8 PPG), as Murr ranked second nationally in free throw percentage (93.53 FT%) and Burnett placed third overall in Division II in three pointers per game (3.56 3PG). 

Daniel Saylor returns for the Chargers as their second-best rebounder from the 2023-24 season (5.2 RPG) and the top block-getter (41 BLK). 

Overall, the Chargers led the GSC in field goal percentage, three pointers made, team free throw percentage, and assist-to-turnover ratio last season and ranked second in points per game in the conference. 

Following this weekend, the Chargers will host their first home game on Tuesday, November 12th against Point.
