CLINTON, Miss. | The No. 25 UAH softball team wrapped up the first three-game Gulf South Conference series of the season at No. 7 Mississippi College with a pair of losses by scores of 8-6 in 11 innings and 4-3. UAH slides to 8-5 (1-2 GSC), while MC rises to 10-1 (2-1 GSC).

UAH steps out of GSC play next weekend with five games in Evansville, Indiana, featuring matchups against Davis & Elkins, Ohio Dominican, Northwood, McKendree and Findlay.

MC 8, UAH 6 (11 innings)
Mississippi College came out on the winning end of the second extra-inning game of the series by a score of 8-6 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the 11th by Shelby Samples.

The Chargers came from behind to tie the contest in the top of the seventh on a solo home run by
Jada Henderson, which is the first round-tripper of the season for the junior.

Lawren Hayes led the way for the team in hits with a 3-for-6 performance out of the lead-off spot, while
Maddie Cartron and
Laura Harbin also had multi-hit games with two hits apiece.

Josie Thompson delivered another strong performance out of the bullpen, tossing 8.0 innings of relief with one earned run allowed, zero walks and seven strikeouts. She incurred the loss to drop to 2-4 this season.

MC 4, UAH 3
Despite the Chargers tying the game 3-3 in the fifth on a three-run rally, the Choctaws won game two of the doubleheader 4-3 on a walk-off RBI single by Samples in the bottom of the seventh.

Douthitt highlighted the Chargers offense in game two with a 3-for-4 performance with one run and two RBI, as she connected on a two-run homer as part of the three-run top of the fifth. She also had a double in the contest to give her two extra-base hits.

Harbin, Henderson and
Sadie Thompson posted two hits apiece against the Choctaws, with Henderson and Thompson notching doubles on one of their two hits.

Grace O'Berry started in the circle for the Chargers, turning in 6.1 innings with three earned runs allowed and nine strikeouts. Her nine strikeouts tie her career-high.
