Softball Victorious Twice on Day Two at Blue Ridge Battle

EVANSVILLE, Ind. | The UAH softball team registered two more wins at the Blue Ridge Battle, hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan, on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Ohio Dominican and an 8-1 victory against Northwood. UAH improves to 10-5 overall this season with today's wins.
 
The Chargers wrap up action at the Blue Ridge Battle on Sunday at 10 a.m. against McKendree and 12 p.m. against Findlay.
 
UAH 3, ODU 1
Katie Bracken went the distance in game one on Saturday, as she allowed just one run over 7.0 innings with 11 strikeouts. She improves to 6-0 with the win, while notching her third game with 10 or more strikeouts.
 
Both teams went scoreless until the top of the sixth when Jada Henderson drove in a run on a fielder's choice, with the Chargers adding two more runs to their lead thanks to RBI by Sydney Harris and Jessica Edde.
 
ODU scored its lone run in the seventh prior to Bracken finishing off her complete game performance.
 
Kaylee Vaught registered a team-high two hits in the contest, with one of her hits going for a double. Alexa Douthitt also had a double in the win.
 
UAH 8, NU 1
The Chargers were in the drive seat from the start in Saturday's second game with a five-run rally in the top of the first, and the Blue & White did not look back in the 8-1 win over Northwood.
 
Both Lawren Hayes and Maddie Cartron had three-hit games in game two on Saturday, as both also recorded one run and one RBI.
 
Alexa Douthitt and Caitlin Bryson both turned in 2-for-3 days at the plate, with the Chargers combining for 12 hits as a team against the Timberwolves.
 
Grace O'Berry also hurled a complete game on Saturday, as she allowed one run over 7.0 innings with seven strikeouts. This was O'Berry's first complete game this season, with the win improving her season record to 2-1.
