TAMPA, Fla. | The No. 12 UAH softball team split a doubleheader at No. 10 Tampa with a 2-1 win in game one and a 1-0 loss in game two on Saturday afternoon in nonconference action. UAH moves to 2-2, while UT's record is now 3-1.

Sophomore
Katie Bracken hurled her first complete-game shutout of the 2024 campaign with a 7.0-inning performance to go along with two strikeout and just three hits allowed.

Bracken has now given up zero earned runs across 14 innings to start her sophomore season.

The lone runs of the game came across the plate in the fourth inning when
Kaylee Vaught scored on an error followed by an RBI single to center by
Alexa Douthitt.

Douthitt led the Chargers offense with three of the team's seven hits, while
Lawren Hayes went 2-for-4 to join Douthitt with a multi-hit performance.

Josie Thompson kept the Spartans scoreless through six full frames, until the hosts pushed across the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the 1-0 win.

Thompson finished the afternoon with 6.2 innings, one run allowed and one strikeout in the nonconference tilt.

Jada Henderson registered her third double of the season in the contest as one of the Chargers five hits. Hayes, Douthitt,
Maddie Cartron and
Caitlin Bryson each had single in the contest.
