HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team returned to Charger Park with a doubleheader sweep of Miles by scores of 7-0 and 16-1 on Wednesday afternoon in nonconference action. UAH improves to 20-9, while MC slides to 5-17.

The Chargers are back at Charger Park with a three-game Gulf South Conference series against Montevallo on Saturday and Sunday. The series was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, but rain in Friday's forecast forced the alteration.

UAH 7, MC 0
The Chargers compiled a 5-0 lead early through the second inning, which was all the support UAH starting pitcher
Katie Bracken needed in a complete-game effort for the 7-0 win.

Bracken threw the full 7.0 innings in game one on Wednesday, allowing only four hits and striking out 12 in the shutout. She improves to 9-2 with the win.

Sadie Thompson highlighted the offense with a grand slam in the five-run second inning.
Alexa Douthitt also went yard with a two-run homer in the fourth.

Lawren Hayes, Douthitt and Thompson all had two base hits in the win to lead the Chargers, as UAH had nine hits as a team.

UAH 16, MC 1
The Blue & White were hot from the batter's box from the start of game two of the doubleheader with a six-run rally in the first inning that carried UAH to the 16-1 sweep-sealing, five-inning win.

After UAH scored six runs in the first, the squad followed up with another six-run rally in the third along with four runs in the fourth. This was the most runs scored by UAH in a game this season so far.

A total of 10 extra-base hits were recorded by the Chargers, including home runs by
Sadie Thompson,
Alexa Douthitt,
Laura Harbin,
Kaylee Vaught and
Katie Bracken.

Thompson also hit a grand slam in the second victory of the day, while
Katie Bracken connected on her first career round-tripper.

Grace O'Berry started for the Chargers, turning in 3.0 innings with one run allowed and five strikeouts.
Josie Thompson finished off the contest with 2.0 scoreless innings, improving to 5-5 with the win in relief.
