HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team cruised to an 19-2 victory in five innings at Charger Park on Friday evening to open a three-game Gulf South Conference series with Lee. UAH improves to 24-9 (10-6 GSC), while LU slides to 13-16 (8-8 GSC).

The Chargers offense rallied for three or more runs in each of the initial three innings on Friday night, including an eight-run rally in the second followed by seven runs in the third to lead the way to the 19-2 rout of the Flames.

Junior
Lawren Hayes led the Chargers out of the lead-off spot in the series opener with a team-high three runs, three hits and four RBI. Her performance was highlighted by a grand slam in the third inning for her second home run this season.

Laura Harbin contributed two home runs in two tripes to the plate, finishing with two runs and matching Hayes with four RBI. She now ranks tied for second on the UAH roster with seven homers in 2024.

Jada Henderson and
Kaylee Vaught also had multi-hit performances with two base knocks apiece, while
Jessica Edde drew a team-high four walks. Edde – who also scored three times – ties the program record for walks in a game, which has now been achieved seven times in UAH softball history.

Katie Bracken tossed the full 5.0 innings for her 13th complete game of her sophomore campaign, as she allowed two runs and struck out six on Friday. She improves to 12-2 with the win.

UAH and Lee wrap up the three-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
