HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team completed its third consecutive Gulf South Conference series sweep with a pair of wins over Lee in Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 7-6 and 7-4. UAH improves to 26-9 (12-6 GSC), while LU slides to 13-18 (8-10 GSC).

The Chargers are now 11-0 in 2024 when playing at Charger Park, as UAH is the lone team in the conference undefeated at home this season.

UAH is back in action on Wednesday in Trussville, Alabama, with a nonconference matchup against Auburn Montgomery.

UAH 7, LU 6
The Flames led the Chargers for the majority of the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday until the bottom of the seventh when UAH scored three runs to win it 7-6 with
Lawren Hayes delivering a walk-off, two-run homer.

Overall, Hayes went 2-for-5 out of the lead-off spot with a team-high two runs and two RBI. Hayes now has three home runs this season.

Sophomore
Alexa Douthitt went a perfect 3-for-3 against Lee with one double, one run, one RBI and one walk.

Jessica Edde gave the Chargers three players with two hits or more in a 2-for-3 day at the plate, while
Kaylee Vaught tied with Hayes with two RBI in a 1-for-3 outing.

Josie Thompson earned the win in relief in the circle, tossing the final 4.0 innings with no runs allowed and two strikeouts. She improves to 7-5 in 2024.

UAH 7, LU 4
Sadie Thompson broke a scoreless tie with a three-run home run in the bottom of the third, as UAH did not look back in the 7-4 win to seal the series sweep.

Overall, Thompson went 2-for-3 with two runs, three RBI and one walk.

Vaught also helped guide the Chargers offense, slugging a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth that pushed UAH's advantage to seven runs at the time. She finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and a team-high four RBI, and she now has five home runs this season.

Hayes recorded her second multi-hit performance of the afternoon, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Josie Thompson started in the circle for the Chargers after winning game one in relief, tossing 5.0 innings with two runs allowed, zero walks and six strikeouts. She earned the win to improve to 8-5 this season.

Katie Bracken finished off the contest as she worked the final 2.0 innings with two runs allowed and four strikeouts.
